Public art has a unique way of connecting us, and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas mural, Community Minded, Kansas Rooted, is a perfect example. This piece touched me in all the best ways, embodying the values of building community, fostering collaboration, and leaving a lasting legacy.

The mural tells a rich story—one that captures the everyday scenes of public life while documenting milestones and memories that shape who we are. It’s a celebration of Kansas iconography, featuring symbols like the buffalo and the state capitol. The capitol, placed at the center, is a powerful reminder of where law intersects with our lives, shaping the freedoms and opportunities we hold dear.

This mural is more than art; it’s a narrative of life itself, from birth to death. It represents family, play, and the journey from childhood to graduation and beyond. It highlights the importance of health, access to fresh food, and the bonds of friendship and care.
